Discover the name of a font in a document it’s easy, even if it isn’t installed on your system. But, what do you do to identify something written in a image archive?

I used to convert it to vector, then, try to convert the result in text using softwares like Inkscape or Corel Draw, so, pray to heaven to identify its name in the vector editor or in a text editor. A hard work that, unfortunately, sometimes fails or isn’t precise at all.

Now, I prefer to use this service that gives me more chances to find information about any font in an image. All you need to do is upload an archive which contains the font or paste the link to it, wait the upload and see lots of suggestions that may match to that font, all with a little preview that helps you in the comparison processes.

I must confess that PDF documents are useful. If you have an file in that format you’ll never lose  margin configuration or suffer from the miss of any font in the computer because the image structure preserves data’s integrity.

Just great, isn’t? Until I get to a LAN House and try to print my Latin homework for University, but don’t find any software to open this type of document, and the installation of new apps is denied. What to do in a situation likes that? Cry? I don’t’ think so…

Better try this online service, which, besides reading the data you have in your hard drive, lets you open PDF files stored in web pages, right in your favorite browser. Just paste its link on the search  bar or browse in your PC to read, copy or print the document. The view engine isn’t one of the best I’ve ever used, but at least works and there’re some tools to zoom and change from page to page too.

Another interesting feature is the option to embed the engine in your blog and create a Java Script that opens any online PDF in a new window.

RSS is one of the most interesting things in internet today! Never again I missed a post on my favorite blog, a reply to it or that crashing news on the local news site! But, I think, it’s a big trouble when I’m in another computer and there isn’t any client or program to read this kind of data!

Besides download and install a piece of soft to solve that, you have to configure the client to receive your RSS posts, and, the worse part: the old stuff is never there, just the new posts are caught.

After going angry several times with that, I tried some portable apps.  I must confess that they are useful, keep all my data in one place well organized, but I was still having troubles because of the incompatibility among different operational systems.

Finally, an online service has given me peace of mind again. It’s perfect, so useful and keep all my data, but doesn’t trapped me, I can work everywhere in any PC, free.

To use is peace of cake: just paste the RSS links and an e-mail address, then, every time a new post comes to that channel,  it will be sent as a HTML to your desired e-mail, so you won’t need any specific tool to read the new entries, and you’ll be able to store and organize the information and access that wherever your are, from any browser.

My favorite apps are the online ones. It’s possible access them from almost everywhere, no installation needed or download, and, with the grown of internet speed, they are quick and always more efficient.

This application, Movavi Online Converter, is one of the best I’ve found to download and convert YouTube videos (or from some other similar sites).  Most of the services are slow, the user must wait until the page uploads and the server converts the items desired, but Movavi doesn’t use this boring procedure, it’s extremely quicker.

Just paste the videos’ link in the search bar, wait some seconds and you will receive in your favorite e-mail a message containing a link to download the converted file or the video in *.flv format (Flash default extension). No passwords needed and there is an option to convert several links, at the same time! That really takes many birds with just one rock.

Besides that, there is a large list of formats to choose, like: *.avi, *.mp4, *.3gp or *.mov, and if you want, the servers let your download the sound track of archives in *.mp3 or *.wma, both in good quality.

Since the day I’ve met Firefox and its multiple tab system, never more my PC got slow after opening several web pages in the browser, it’s amazing! Then, last year, IBM announced an office suite Lotus Symphony, totally free of charge, besides the use of the tab system to open documents, spreadsheets and presentations, so open all these stuff it’s easier to my SO. I thought it was enough for me, but I was totally wrong…

An “add-on” to Windows Explorer, QTTabBar, made me feel more comfortable manipulating multiple paths with tab system. Now, only one window open is what I need all day long, no more lots of confusing windows in my screen, it’s all organized like in a browser tab bar, quick to use and never leak RAM memory, making my Windows OS runs faster than with the native windows manage system.

Now, is there any other application which peoples would like to use tabs? I have no idea, do you?

Although  the strong title to a post, it refers to an awesome situation the web is living: the grown of 3D environmental applications, but I’m not referring to games and entertainment applications, I’m referring to social networks, picture galleries, engines to navigate in the internet, and other.

Looking around in some 2.0 blogs, I’ve found an application called SmallWords, which contains lots of fun and interactive options, further more it’s a wonderful social network.

Do you like games? There you have. Do you like social networks like Orkut? (famouse in Brazil), Facebook, MySpace and similar? There you have. Do you like pictures? Access your Flickr page from there. Everything in i rich graphics 3D environment. Start creating an avatar, choose almost everything, face, clothes, accessories, etc. Then, you may find users to interact (or find people you already know), go around and enter pubs, spas, clubs, resorts and God knows what more. Talk to everyone you find using comic-like balloons, add them to your friend list, enter their house and enjoy your stay with the interactive moves like dance steps and emoticons.

Another interesting thing is the possibility to listen and search for music  (powered by seeqpod.com) and watch videos from YouTube on the video player.

So, after all these things I’ve found, I’m sure the next step of the web will be the transition  to the 3D environment, what do you think? Sci-fi? Maybe… Who knows?

All you want is grouped right in the same screen, no need to change page to see more results, just roll the scroll bar left or right to navigate trough the found items.

Don’t you like software totally modifiable? So do I, it’s amazing change skins, modify menu orders, try different colors and put some new sound to be played when events occur. I was enjoying ReminderFox, an extension for Firefox, and I departed myself with a trouble: where to find cool sounds to customize the reminders? I searched out in some sound effects bases, but I couldn’t find anything good, frustrated, I was getting sad because I would use the default sounds forever, but, in a last try, I have found a an AT&T online service that converts text to speech, and very well.

There are some voices, female and male, and you can write the text in 3 languages: English, Spanish and French. It’s possible to listen to the result and download it in *.wav format. The project is in beta version, but works too quickly and generates high quality archives, but 300 character limit, useful to create small phrases like: download completed or you have a new e-mail.

Popular programs for file sharing are really nice, I love eMule and Kazaa, but have your ever been in situation where your can’t use that programs, and was right in the mood of listen to some songs? So, what do you do in that case?

Before know about this site, I used to try in some file sharing sites like RapidShare or 4Shared, but I have never found my wanted files! Lots of items and not so much time to search in that big list with images, movies and God knows what else.

FlyaKite OS X is the best software for theme modification I’ve found ever, but… there’s just one problem with it (nothing is perfect): it just run on Windows Xp! Do you think this are the developer’s text? No, I’ve tried to install it on another OS, and it wasn’t fine because my system has gotten crazy, really crazy.
